The Lyon Park Listserve

The Lyon Park Citizens Association operates a listerve, which functions as an electronic community bulletin board.   We use it to share views and community information amongst ourselves.  It functions by forwarding e-mails from authorized members to all the other authorized members.  All residents of Lyon Park and Ashton Heights can subscribe, as can those who have business or nonprofit interests located in the neighborhood.

To subscribe to the listserve, click on the following link and follow the instructions:  http://lyonpark.org/mailman/listinfo/community_lyonpark.org.  You will be asked to provide name and address to confirm eligibility.

The listserve is operated to enhance community communications, and content is monitored to ensure it is appropriate for the audience.  Direct commercial advertising or advertising of items “for sale” is not permitted on the listserve, and spam, offensive remarks, or abusive language will not be tolerated.  We do not use the listserve as a forum for partisan political advertising or discussion.  We do, however, often use the listserve to advertise giveaway items, to notify the community of non-profit organizations’ events of interest, and to discuss commercial goods and services needed by the community.  In the community spirit of the listserve, those posting messages are encouraged to identify themselves in their postings.

Those abusing the provisions of the listserve and/or violating the spirit in which it is operated may be denied the ability to directly post e-mails to it.  The listserve manager may verify the eligibility of those posting to it as required.

Disclaimer:  LPCA assumes no responsibility to verify the truthfulness of any posting and assumes no liability for any postings to the listserve.

There is an archive of past postings to the listserve which can only be accessed by listserve members.  Click the link above, and select "Community Archives," and it will prompt you for your e-mail address and password to log in.   If you have forgotten your password, select "Unsubscribe or Edit Options," check the appropriate box, and your password will be e-mailed to you.

The listserve has a digest feature that aggregates e-mails and sends them once a day rather than sending them individually.  To activate this feature, click on the link above, scroll to the bottom, and select "unscbscribe or edit options."  From there, select DIGEST mode.  If you need a password reminder sent first, after clicking edit options, enter your e-mail address and select REMIND.

Newsletter -- Lyon Park Citizen

The newsletter of the Lyon Park Citizens Association is the Lyon Park Citizen.  It is published monthly and delivered free to the housholds of Lyon Park at the beginning of each month except for July and August.  Jeannette Wick (newsedads (at) lyonparkcitizens.org, phone 703-524-8531) and Shirley Larson (newsed (at) lyonparkcitizens.org, phone 703-524-8531) are co-Editors, and Helen White (email:  newsdistrib (at) lyonparkcitizens.org, phone 703-527-2977)  heads distribution.  Copies of present and past issues of the newsletter are contained in the Library.

This publication is well read by the community, as it covers many items of interest, from community issues and events to school news and local restaurant reviews.   Advertisers with products or services of interest to the community should contact Jeannette Wick for further information and rates.

Lyon Park 411

This electronic news bulletin for the community is intended to send out updates on Lyon Park happenings, generally every week or two.  This is an e-mail notification service only and is not a discussion forum like the Lyon Park listserve, so it will have much less e-mail volume.  All Lyon Park and Ashton Heights residents are welcome to subscribe, which can be accomplished by sending name, home address, and e-mail address to nroyvilla(at)aol.com.  Organizers of Lyon Park community events should also send pertinent data to the same e-mail address to be included in the following edition.
