Lyon Park Community Center

The Lyon Park Community Center is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Lyon Park parkground and the Lyon Park Community House.  The Community Center also sponsors many of the community activities at Lyon Park.  The Community Center is directed by a Board of Governors, which consists of five members each from the Citizens Association and the Woman's Club.  The Lyon Park Citizens Association members for 2009-10 are Bill Anhut (BOG Vice Chairman), Kathleen McSweeney, Robert Dudka, Ken Bell (Treasurer), and Sue Robinson.  Woman's Club members are Jeannette Wick (Chairman), Tracy Hopkins (Secretary), Elizabeth Wray, Atholene Motafches, and Kristen Lippert-Martin.  The Community House is available for rental for events.  Click here for more information about the Community Center.  

Lyon Park Woman's Club

They Lyon Park Woman's Club meets together socially and engages in activities supporting the Lyon Park Community Center and Park.  It has held a fresh produce sale around Thanksgiving, sponsors the annual Lyon Park Yard Sale, and has had several very successful bake sales.  For information about the Woman's Club or its activities, contact  Jeannette Wick (email: newsedads (at) lyonparkcitizens.org, phone 703-524-8531).

 

Arlington County Civic Federation

The CivFed, as the Arlington County Civic Federation is commonly known, is a very active independent organization consisting of representatives from the County's 57 neighborhood civic associations and a number of Arlington nonprofit organizations.  It addresses numerous issues of interest to County residents and passes resolutions concerning these issues, to advise the County Board.  The Lyon Park Citizens Association representatives to the CivFed currently are Larry Mayer (email: civfed1 (at) lyonparkcitizens.org), Jim Mayer, Jim Turpin, and Steve Geiger.  Alternates are Joe Englehardt, John Waters, Melissa Bondi, and Erik Gutshall.

Clarendon

The Clarendon Alliance is a grouping of Clarendon businesses and the neighboring neighborhood civic associations.  It addresses issues concerning the development of Clarendon, to include the County's Clarendon Sector Plan.  Our representatives to the Alliance are  Jeff Jaeckel  (email: clarendonrep (at) lyonparkcitizens.org  phone 202-778-1440) and Rich Robinson.

Doorways for Women and Families

Doorways is a non-profit organization that offers shelter and services to abused, homeless and at-risk women and families.  It operates a home in Lyon Park.  Our liaison to the home is Erik Gutshall (email:  lpca (at) gutshall.net, phone 703-489-3680).

Nearby Neighborhoods and Civic Associations
