On December 9, the LPCA membership voted funds to support a final plan for the Community House renovation, signifiying community acceptance of the design. UPCOMING EVENTS IN LYON PARK
2nd and 4th Sundays of every month -- Capital Area Bluegrass Old-time Music Association plays at the Park, 2-6 PM.
Every Friday, Duplicate Bridge at the Community House, 9-1:30.
February 10 -- 2nd Wednesday of the month -- monthly LPCA meeting. 7:30 at the Community House.
February 11 -- 2nd Thursday of the month -- monthly meeting of the Community Center Board of Governors. Open to all community members. 7:30 at the Community House.
February 13 -- Valentine's Day Cupcake Sale sponsored by the Woman's Club. 9 - 2 at the Community House. Order some ahead, or buy on 2/13. For more info, click HERE
February 23 -- Woman's Club Meeting. Open to all community members. Potluck lunch and hearts bingo. 12:00 at the Community House.
March 19 -- Ibis concert. 7:30 at the Community House.

Lyon Park Walking Tour. On September 17, The Arlington County Board conducted a walking meeting in Lyon Park, touring the neighborhood. During the tour, the community raised a number of outstanding issues with the Board members and accompanying county staff. On November 23, the County Manager forwarded a follow-up response detailing each of these issues and how they might be dealt with. A copy of that response may be found by clicking HERE.
Community House Renovation. In April, the Community Center Board of Governors announced a new public process to decide on a design for the renovation. A Steering Committee composed of community volunteers worked on the design between April and December, and the process has yeilded community agreement on a final design, signified by a 9 December LPCA membership vote of $50,000 to support it. The Board of Governers will now proceed with further fundraising, architect and contractor selection, and construction in a process yet to be detailed. Lyon Park Champions Award. On December 9, awards were given to Wendell & Alice Brown and Monica & Larry Craven for their many years of service to the community. Click here to see the web site page for these awards.
The Garfield Park development (Corner of N. 10th St & Washington Blvd) -- In early March, demolition of the old buildings was accomplished. Planning/permitting is continuing but financing seems to be delayed and ground breaking now is indeterminate. See more info on the News & Issues page.
The 2201 Pershing Drive development (Old Lee Shopping Center) has seen some stores shut, while others will be open for the time being. Project work has been quiet due to the financial markets. See more info on the News & Issues page.
